November dawns

'November always seemed to me,  the Norway of the year' (Emily Dickinson)

How apt. Not that I've been to Norway but I imagine darkness-short days-beautiful yet stark landscape....Edinburgh has been unseasonably warm.  November should be ushered in with mist; a new pair of mittens and hot water bottles. I remain hopeful that October's colour and sense of seasonal excitement will give way to a chilly calm before the joy and sparkle of December.

Halloween was great fun yesterday.  N dressed as a spider for play group.
There were ghost biscuits and pumpkin balloons. We went to The Pantry for a pumpkin party and left lollies for trick or treaters. And ate scary chicken pie for dinner.
